The Application Paper was developed following extensive stakeholder and member engagement including four public consultations. The paper will support supervisors in effectively integrating climate-related risk into their supervisory practices to strengthen the resilience of the global insurance sector.
The Application Paper provides a comprehensive overview of how the IAIS’ Insurance Core Principles (ICPs) can be applied to address the growing risks from climate-related risks.
Following consultation between March and June 2024, the IAIS has now published its Application Paper on supervising diversity, equity and inclusion – the governance, risk management and culture perspective.

The IAIS is continuing to review public consultation comments received more recently on the draft Application Paper on how to achieve fair treatment for diverse consumers and anticipates publishing the final paper in mid-2025.
The IAIS’ work on diversity, equity and inclusion will form part of discussions at the IAIS Annual Conference 2024 on 5-6 December in Cape Town, South Africa.
The paper links to ICPs 7 and 8 with a focus on the potential implications if insurers lack a commitment to DEI and the actions supervisors can take in response, whether industry-wide or insurer-specific.
The IAIS is consulting on a draft Application Paper on the supervision of artificial intelligence. Feedback is sought by 17 February.
Public consultation feedback is invited by 11 October 2024 on the first phase of the draft Application Paper on Operational Resilience Objectives [and Toolkit]. This first phase sets out outcome-based objectives for operational resilience, which aim to provide a sound and consistent foundation to support supervisory authorities in their oversight of insurance sector operational resilience.
Public consultation feedback is invited by 28 October 2024 on part four of the public consultation on climate risk supervisory guidance, which includes material on supervisory reporting, public disclosures, macroprudential supervision and group-wide supervision.
