IAIS adopts Insurance Capital Standard and other enhancements to its global standards to promote a resilient insurance sector

At its AGM today, the IAIS adopted the first comprehensive global capital standard for insurance supervision, the ICS, and also adopted important updates to existing qualitative global standards for insurance supervision, the ICPs and ComFrame, related to climate risk, recovery and resolution, and valuation and capital adequacy.

Public Consultation on Issues Paper on roles and functioning of policyholder protection schemes (PPSs)

The IAIS has published for consultation its Issues Paper on roles and functioning of Policyholder Protection Schemes (PPSs). The Paper describes current practices for PPSs and is intended to serve as a guide for jurisdictions considering establishing a PPS or modifying an existing PPS. Comments are due by 14 April 2023.

Application Paper on Resolution Powers and Planning

The paper provides guidance for supervisors and resolution authorities in implementing a resolution framework, including setting up powers, planning for resolution and issues around coordination and cooperation. The paper is part of a broader project to help insurance supervisors and resolution authorities apply the standards on recovery and resolution in the ICPs and ComFrame.
