Group Chief Economist, Swiss Re Head, Swiss Re Institute
As Group Chief Economist for Swiss Re and Head of Swiss Re Institute, Jérôme is responsible for Swiss Re’s global economic and insurance market research programme. Jérôme is the managing editor of Swiss Re’s flagship sigma research series. He also leads the external engagement of Swiss Re on advocacy and partnerships with Group Public Affairs, Partnerships and the Strategic Council.
Jérôme’s research team provides macroeconomic and insurance market forecasting, research and scenario analysis for Swiss Re and its clients from locations in Zurich, New York, Bratislava, Bangalore, Beijing and Hong Kong.
Jérôme engages with global policymakers on discussions to strengthen the dual role of the insurance industry as a risk absorber and long-term investor. Jérôme is also a leading industry voice on the importance of sound global financial market architecture and global resilience.
Jérôme is a member of external advisory committees at the Institute of International Finance and the World Economic Forum. Jérôme is a Board member of the International Capital Market Association and the London School of Economics Financial Markets Group. He also serves as Director of the Board at the China Asia-Pacific Reinsurance Research Center. He previously served as Co-Chair of the World Bank’s Global Infrastructure Facility Advisory Council.
Previously at Swiss Re, Jérôme was Head of Investment Strategy for Group Asset Management for nearly 10 years. Prior to joining Swiss Re, he was the Swiss National Bank’s Delegate to the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. Jérôme also previously held positions at the Swiss National Bank, UBS Warburg and Bank Julius Baer.
Jérôme holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Basel and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics. He was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard University’s Economic Department.
